SMITH CHAPEL

               Pastor Anthony Taylor has served in full time ministry for over 25 years. Servant, teacher, leader, and friend are words that best describe the lifestyle, passion and ministry of our leader. A native of Dallas, TX he accepted Christ at the age of 15 and by the age of 17 was filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. Pastor Taylor began serving in ministry under the leadership of his grandfather at Progressive Church Of God in Christ as well as his father Pastor W. D. Taylor at the Gethsemane Church Of God In Christ.

 

In 2010 Pastor Anthony was elected to be the Senior Pastor of Smith Chapel Church Of God In Christ in Palestine, TX. He previously served in 2002 as pastor of the Saint Hill Church Of God In Christ for 7 years in Fairfield, TX. Upon his installment as the Pastor of the Smith Chapel Church Of God In Christ, Pastor Taylor began to seek the Lord as to how He (God) would have him to move the church out of debt. With a $166,000.00 mortgage hanging over the heads of the membership, the congregation wanted to be relieved of the debt in order to make the necessary repairs to the church. Through fasting and praying the Lord would answer Pastor T as to what to do; he did just what the Lord said and it came to pass. The church is now paid in full and currently acquiring additional real-estate. However, the Lord was not through with getting the church out of debt; the Lord would make the church aware of additional property that is sure to give Smith Chapel Church Of God In Christ the desire of their hearts. Thank God for a leader who listens and recognizes the voice of God.

 

Pastor T has brought about a significant change in the community of Palestine, TX and continues to embrace the following the areas to change for the better:

Since receiving his Associates of Applied Science degree in Child Development from Navarro College (Corsicana, TX), he is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Sam Houston State University. One of Serveral accomplishments of Pastor Taylor include author of "Man Of Prayer To A Prayer Warrior."

 

Pastor Taylor is the proud husband to Jacqueline Taylor who serves as First Lady of the Smith Chapel church family. To this wonderful union they share three children; LaToya, Anthony Jr., James and one grandson. Smith Chapel is blessed to have such a powerful and anointed pastor and wife. He walks in the office of a prophet and many gifts as the spirit leads.
